Core platform modernisation for a Turkish payments company
For a payments institution whose platform could not carry the next five years, incremental extraction modernised it without freezing the product.
The challenge
Deployments took a weekend and were reversed roughly one in five. Regulatory reporting was semi-manual. Turkish character handling was inconsistent, with locale-unaware casing corrupting names containing İ and ı, and search failing on any query with a Turkish diacritic.
What Corpshore did
We placed a dedicated ten-person pod in Istanbul working inside the client's own process. The pod took a strangler approach, extracting capabilities one bounded context at a time behind a stable API layer. Priority was set by risk. The Turkish locale handling was fixed as a cross-cutting workstream with regression tests.
Results
- Deployment frequency moved from roughly monthly to several times weekly
- Change failure rate fell from around 20 percent to under 4 percent
- Automated test coverage on extracted services reached 79 percent from near zero
- Support volume attributable to Turkish character handling fell to zero
Why it worked
Two other firms had quoted a full rewrite, which would have frozen the product for a year in a moving market. Incremental extraction was slower on paper and faster in practice.
