Managed security operations for a Turkish energy utility

For an energy utility that had bought security tooling it could not staff, 24 by 7 monitoring and rule tuning solved coverage and signal quality.

The challenge

The company had capable tooling and could not staff it. A three-person team monitored during business hours, leaving most of the week uncovered. Alert volume was high and untuned. The OT environment was monitored separately and inconsistently.

What Corpshore did

We stood up 24 by 7 monitoring from our Ankara SOC, integrating the existing SIEM, EDR and cloud telemetry. The first ninety days focused on tuning. We extended coverage to the OT boundary and built and tested incident response runbooks with two tabletop exercises.

Results

  • Monitoring moved from business hours only to continuous, including the OT boundary
  • False positive volume reduced roughly 62 percent after tuning
  • Mean time to detect and contain both improved substantially against baseline
  • Three genuine incidents were detected and contained in the first year, all out of hours

Why it worked

The company's problem was never tooling. It was coverage, tuning and the ability to evidence both. More technology would have made the alert problem worse.
